Rules & Safety

Cabana Rentals

Water, cabanas, music and fun—the Aquatic Center is big enough to accommodate a large gathering and has more intimate spaces for smaller groups.

Lifeguarding at the Aquatics Center

Lifeguards must be at least 15 years old and pass a Jeff Ellis and Associates lifeguard certification course, which is considered the gold-standard in aquatic risk management. Training includes master lifesaving techniques, first-aid, AED use, and supplemental oxygen use.

Course participation does not guarantee future employment at the BCRD Aquatic Center but is mandatory for anyone wishing to apply to be a part of the Lifeguard Staff.

2023 LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION COURSE DATES: TBD

Lightning Policy

The BCRD Aquatic Center will close if the lightening is detected within a 10 mile radius and/or thunder is heard.  The pool will reopen 30 minutes after the last audible thunder and after lightning has moved beyond the 10-mile radius.

Storms can be unpredictable in the summer and our first priority is swimmer safety.
